Style guide for christenings: keys to being the perfect guest

by Cristina Quijada 13 Dec 2025

The event season has its own rules, and often, the christening is the great overlooked occasion in protocol manuals. However, dressing for this event can be even more complex than for a wedding.

At Panambi, we are clear about it: a christening is a celebration of life and joy, and as such, it demands a sophisticated, fresh, and natural look. Today we present some options to feel comfortable, beautiful, and hit the mark as a christening guest.

Understanding the christening dress code

First, let's set the scene: we are dealing with a daytime event (almost always in the morning), family-oriented, and generally involving a religious ceremony. These three points mark the roadmap for your styling:

  • The appropriate length. Protocol dictates short (knee-length) or midi. Floor-length is strictly forbidden (except for the mother, and even then, avoiding trains is recommended). The midi cut, a Panambi hallmark, is your best ally: elegant, comfortable, and always correct.
  • Discretion at the ceremony. Since it is a religious act, the ideal choice is a simple look. Try to avoid plunging necklines or skirts that are too short. If your dress has straps, the solution is very easy: pair it with one of our jackets for the church service. This way, you will be comfortable, appropriate, and elegant.
  • Zero flashiness. Leave the sequins, full black lace, and transparencies for the night. A christening calls for light, not disco glitz.

Fabrics and colors that work best

This is where the Panambi DNA comes in. While color is always welcome, this season we champion pure light and the sophistication of natural tones.

The color palette

Our winning bet is on neutral and luminous tones. Colors like ecru, off-white, and sand beige are the absolute protagonists, bringing unmatched freshness to morning events.

And if I want color? Do it through prints with character. Instead of a flat solid color, opt for our multicolored geometric designs or floral prints in terracotta and black tones, which bring life to the look without losing the elegance of the light background.

Can I wear white? Absolutely yes! At a christening or communion, white and ecru are not only permitted but are an absolute trend. The key to the look's success is not the color, but the richness of the fabric. Look at our designs with artisanal embroidery or full lace. A "total white" look stops being basic when it has texture and quality.

The 3 Panambi infallibles that never fail

If you have doubts and don't want to complicate things, these three formulas are a guaranteed success at any christening:

The tailored suit

It is the new favorite garment of the modern woman. A suit in a solid color is sophisticated, empowering, and very feminine.

The printed midi dress

A classic. Look for discreet geometric or floral patterns. The midi cut elongates the leg and is extremely comfortable to wear at events.

The two-piece set (blouse + palazzo trousers)

The most versatile option. A blouse with puff sleeves (very trendy) combined with high-waisted trousers creates a visual effect of "infinite legs" and gives you absolute freedom of movement.

The essentials to complete your christening total look

Since we won't be wearing large headpieces or wide-brimmed hats (strictly reserved for formal morning weddings), the styling relies heavily on details. These are the essentials to take your look to another level.

The bag. Forget large everyday bags (shopper type) and micro-bags where nothing fits. The ideal option is an envelope clutch. If the event is more relaxed, a small bag worn on the shoulder with a fine chain is also correct.

The footwear. A christening usually implies spending time standing. Opt for comfortable party sandals. Metallic tones (antique gold, silver, and bronze) work as a neutral: they match everything and visually elongate the leg by avoiding a color "break".

Smart shopping: a look for a thousand occasions

At Panambi, we don't believe in "throwaway" fashion. We want your investment to be smart. The great advantage of choosing a christening look from our collection is its useful life after the event.

Buying well means buying garments that excite you every time you wear them, not just on the day of the party.
